Laeticia, Manager Room Service DIsney's Hotel New York
I started at the resort in 1992 after training in sales. My first role was on a temporary food and beverage contract in Pizzeria Bella Notte. Then, after working for three years in different locations, I was given an important opportunity – the chance to become a location trainer responsible for welcoming restaurant newcomers. After a while I wanted to continue developing my career in catering, and so I set my mind on becoming a waitress. To do that I took several training modules and these further opened my eyes to the requirements of working in the service industry. In 1998, and after a six-month training programme, I became a team leader. The training programme I followed mixed theory and practical aspects in a variety of areas including internal company procedures and team management. I can say that my career as a Manager really began here. By working in different locations with a variety of teams, I’ve progressively built up my knowledge. Since 2004 I’ve been Room Service Manager at Disney’s Hotel New York where I’m responsible for a team of 25 people.
“Tomorrow every employee must be able to raise his “employability”. Apprenticeships, vocational training, mobility, internal promotions… the individual is at the heart of our human resources policy.
He develops his competencies in his own self interest and he develops the company.”
Jean-Noël Thioller, Director Employment and Reward
