Music
Among my other various interests, I like to write and record music in my spare time.
In the spring of 2006, I recorded an EP consisting of seven original tracks with the help of Thorsen Music Productions. Currently, the album is available only by digital download via iTunes. The track listing is as follows:
Here’s the obligatory music bio (which is clearly unfinished… I’m lazy):
Somehow all of Jake Bouma’s songs sound hauntingly familiar, as if you’ve had them in your head for years and you’re hearing them again for the very first time. Although his sound is self-described as quite similar to singer/songwriters like John Mayer and Matt Wertz, Jake is adamant about not painting himself into an artistic corner; and you can hear the diversity in his music.
Watch and Listen:
If you’d like a taste of my music, hit up my MySpace page or my Virb page.
There are also a few videos on YouTube of me playing with my pal Mike Lang:
Gigs:
Although I’m a busy guy, I do like to play live shows every now and then. I’ve played all sorts of places throughout Iowa: Vaudeville Mews, Java Joe’s, The Lampost, Valley Church, The Book Cellar, Java G’s, Luther College, The Dayton House Café, Wartburg Theological Seminary, KWLC-AM, and Local Lixx on KVIK-FM. I’ve also played at Onalaska United Methodist Church in Wisconsin.
If you’re interested in having me play for your event/coffee shop/sports arena, just contact me and we’ll get things set up.
